Top-level equine veterinary care
As an intern at the University Clinic for Equine Health, you will work together with dedicated specialists, residents, and students to deliver high-quality veterinary care for horses and other equids. Our clinic has ultramodern facilities, including extensive admission facilities and advanced imaging techniques such as MRI, CT and radiodiagnostics. It also has an extensive programme of groundbreaking clinical scientific research, including research into gait analysis.
Equine Internship: responsibilities and duties
As an intern, you will be responsible for keeping the university clinic operational after the transfer of information from specialists in the morning. You will be actively involved in patient rounds, consults, admission of patients and the logistics of laboratory samples. In addition, you will perform common tasks such as inserting IV catheters, tubing and administering medication. You will also play an important role in supervising master students in their clinical skills and clinical education. You will rotate through Internal Medicine and Surgery and be required to work evening and night shifts. You may also participate in the anaesthesia on-call duties, following in-house training.
Practical experience in a dynamic academic environment
As an intern at the University Clinic for Equine Health, you will acquire valuable practical experience in a dynamic academic environment over a period of 18 months. You will gain the opportunity to learn by doing under the guidance of renowned specialists who treat and discuss complex patients. The internship will allow you to explore various aspects of equine medicine, surgery and orthopedics, and prepare for the next step in your career, commonly a residency.

- You are a veterinarian with an interest in and experience with horses.
